WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CRUISES BY SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE 64-37
The women's basketball team won their third game in a row as they defeated Southwest Tennessee 64-37 as the team celebrated their three sophomores. The win moves the squad's overall record to 14-12 an conference record to 8-10.
The ladies pushed out to a 10-1 lead early in the game, but Southwest fought back to be down 14-10 after ten minutes. The team built on that lead over the next two quarters to lead 42-29. They busted it open in the fourth quarter as they outscored the visitors 22-8 in the final stanza.
Kennedy Baker was the only Cougar to reach double figures with 16 points. Sophomores Mar'Nazha Houston, Erin Dixon, and Ziara Thompson contributed in the game. Houston had nine points while Dixon and Thompson each contributed seven points in the win. Macie Collins had eight in the game with Kayla Lopez contributing seven in the game.
Baker would record another double-double with 17 rebounds. Thompson, Houston, and Collins each would grab nine boards with Pender pulling down seven.
Lopez would lead the team with six assists followed by Sloan Pender with three in the contest. Baker had six steals to lead the team. She was followed by Collins with three and Pender with two on the day.
The team is at home on Wednesday night in another conferennce game when they host Pellissippi State with a start time of 5:30pm EST,.
