WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS HOME OPENER 73-61
Trailing 54-53 going into the last quarter, the Cougar women's basketball team suffered shooting woes in the final frame as thye dropped their home opener to South Georgia 73-61.
The ontest was close throughout the game as both teams held leads during the first three quarters. South Georgia held the slim one point lead going into the last quarter where they outscored the Cougars 19-8 in the final ten minutes for the win.
Sloan Pender led the women with 21 points as well as pulling down seven rebounds. Macie Collins came off the bench to reach double figures with ten points as well as four rebounds.
Pender led the team with four assists and five steals. Mar'Nazha Houston led the team with eight rebounds. Lailani Hatten matched Pender with seven rebounds, and Kennedy Baker had six boards in the game.
The team will be back in action on uesday night at home when they face off with Gadsden State. Game time is set for 5:30pm EST.
