WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO HOST SPECIAL EVENTS THIS SEMESTER
Cleveland State Community College will be hosting two special events, one in January and one in February dedicated to honoring impactful legacies and supporting meaningful causes.
On January 17th, recognizing the number of families in our region affected by Alzheimer's disease, we will participate in the We Back Pat initiative in honor of the legacy of Pat Summitt. Coach Summitt left a lasting impact not only on Tennessee, but also on the game of women's basketball nationwide. As part of this initiative, Cleveland State will host Pat's Power Walk, a Walk to End Alzheimer's, beginning at 10:00 a.m. EST on the Cleveland State Community College campus. Complimentary hot chocolate will be available for participants. Following the walk, we will host both women's and men's basketball games, with the women's tip-off at 2:00 p.m. and the men's tip-off at 4:00 p.m.
In February, Cleveland State Community College will host the Kay Yow Initiative Game, honoring the legacy of Coach Kay Yow. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund supports research and initiatives aimed at fighting all cancers that affect women. Coach Yow was widely known for her strength, resilience, and belief in the philosophy of "Just one more," a message that continues to inspire athletes and communities alike. The game will take place on February 14th with the women's tip-off at 2:00 p.m. and the men's tip-off at 4:00p.m.
For both events, commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase through a pre-sale, with unique designs created specifically for each cause. These shirts can also be your entry ticket to each event. For those unable to attend in person, a donation link will be provided, allowing contributions to be made directly to the respective organizations. All proceeds from both events will be donated to the designated causes.
