The Cougar women's basketball team evened their regular season record at 1-1 with a solid 55-49 win over the Cardinals of Gadsden State. The squad took the lead late in the first quarter, and would never relinquish it for the rest of the contest.
Sloan Pender again led the team in scoring with 15 points. She also had eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the game.
Kayla Lopez, Erin Dixon, and Mar'Nezha Houston each finished with eight points. Lopez had two assists in the game while Dixon and Houston each had five rebounds.
Macie Collins had three assists and seven rebounds in the contest. Kennedy Baker also had five rebounds.
The team will open conference play this weekend as they travel to Jackson State Saturday. Games time is set for 3pm EST.
