LADIES CONTINUE WINNING WAYS; STREAK REACHES SEVEN GAMES
The women's basketball team saw their winning streak reach seven games as they defeated Souther Crescent on Saturday by a 57-40 final. With the win, the team saw their overall record improve to 9-5 on the season.
The ladies would build a 32-15 lead at the half, and would cruise to the win. They shot only 26.5% from the field as they had to shake off the rust from the holiday break. They would outrebound their oppinents 45-38 as they had 20 offensive rebounds in the contest.
Sloan Pender, Kennedy Baker, and Mar'Nazha Houston all reached double figures in the game. Pender had 15 points as she connected on 5 of 9 three point shots. Houston finished with 12 points as she was 5 of 9 from the field. Baker was 5 of 6 from the free throw line and finished with 11 points.
Houston recorded another double-double as she led the squad with 16 rebounds. Macie Collins fell one point short of a double-double as she had nine points to go with ten rebounds.
Collins also led the squad with six assists while Kayla Lopez had five in the game. Collins was also the leader with three steals, and Baker finished with two in the contest.
The team looks to continue their streak on Wednesday as they host Roane State in conference play. Game time is set for 5:30pm EST.
