WOMEN SEE STREAK END; DROP OT THRILLER AGAINST PELLISSIPPI
The women's basketball team saw their winning streak end at nine as they lost to Pellissippi State 68-63 in overtime. The Cougar's overall record drops to 11-6 while their conference record stands at 5-5.
The squad took a 25-9 lead after the first quarter only to see their hosts cut it to 3, 33-30, at the half. The contests stayed close in the second half as both teams had opportunities to win the game in regulation. The Panthers would outscore Cleveland 11-6 in the overtime for the victory.
The squad had three scorers reach double figures led by Kennedy Baker with 19 points. Sloan Pender would add 11 points while Macie Collins finished with ten in the game.
Collins and Pender would lead the team with eight rebounds. Both Baker and Mar'Nazha Houston would finish the night with seven boards.
Collins and Kayla Lopez each would have four assists in the contest. Pender, Collins, and Lopez each would have four steals on the night. Both Baker and Houston had two blocks.
The ladies next game will be at home this Saturday for their "We Back Pat" event. They will host Snead State in the contest with game time set for 2pm EST.
