COUGAR WOMEN EARN EIGHTH WIN A ROW OVER ROANE STATE
The Cougar women's basketball team flexed a little muscle Wednesday night as they solidly defeated Roane State 85-23 in a conference matchup. The win puts the ladies' record at 10-5 overall, and a 4-4 conference record.
The squad held their visitors to single digits in each quarter as they built a first quarter lead, and continued to increase by oustscoring their opponents by double digits in each quarter.
The Cougars placed three scorers in double digits led by Mar'Nazha Houston and Ziara Thompson. Both players scored 19 points. Houston connected on 7 of 9 shots from the field while Thompson connected on 6 of 9 in the contest. Macie Collins also reach double figures as she hit 8 of 13 shots from the field.
Houston recorded a double-double as she led the team with ten rebounds. Collins would follow with seven boards while Thompson collected five caroms.
Kayla Lopez had eight assists to lead the team as well as four steals and eight points. Sloan Pender led the team with five steals to go with six assists and eight points. Damoni Kpana had four assist and three steals and seven points in the game. Thompson finished the game with four steals.
The women will be on the road for their next contest as they will play Southwest Tennessee on Saturday. Game time is set for 3pm EST.
