COUGAR WOMEN DROP CONFERENCE OPENER
The women's basketball team had shooting struggles and costly turnovers in their conference opener at Jackson State. The hosts outscored the Cougars 40-15 in the second and fourth quarters as Cleveland dropped the game 68-40.
The Cougars only connected on 15 fo 58 (25.9%) shots for the game, and had 35 turnovers in absorbing the conference loss. It make their overall record 1-2 on the season.
Kennedy Baker was the only member to reach double figures with 13 points to go with a team high 14 rebounds. Macy Collins and Erin Dixon were the next closest with six points each.
Mar'Nazha Houston had eight rebounds in the game while Sloan Pender had five and Collins finished with four. Kayla Lopez had three assists as Pender added two in the game. Lopez and Pender eaach had two steals in the contest.
The squad returns to action Wednesday night versus Chattanooga State in another road conference tilt. Game time is set for 5:30pm EST.
