LADY COUGARS GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS OVER VOL STATE
The women's basketball team ended a five game losing streak as they defeated Vol State by a 81-47 final. The win moves the ladies' overall record to 12-12 and improves their conference record to 6-10.
The ladies jumped out to a quick lead to start the game and was ahead 20-7 after the first quarter. They would increase on their lead in the second quarter; leading 40-19 at the break. They would hold their largest lead at the end of the third quarter as they a 65-30 advantage.
Leading the way for the team was Kennedy Baker with 24 points. One point behind her was Macie Collins with 23 points. Sloan Pender and Mar'Nazha Houston each would chip in with eight points Damoni Kpana and Erin Dixon each had six points off the bench.
Baker made it a monster double-double with 17 rebounds to lead the squad. Collins would have eight rebounds in the game. Dixon would finish with six boards, and Houston would add five in the win.
Kayla Lopez would finish the game with 13 assists with Pender contributing four and Collins three in the contest. Pender would have three steals with Lopez collecting two while Baker would have three blocks.
The women return to action Wednesday when they play Roane State in another road conference matchup. Game time is set for 5:30pm EST.
