COUGARS REBOUND; DEFEAT SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE ON "SOPHOMORE DAY'
On a day where the men's basketball team celebrated their two sophomores, the Cougars started fast as they defeated southwest Tennessee 86-49. The win improves the squad's overall record to 11-13 with a 7-11 reccord in conference play.
The Cougars used defense and consistent play on offense to build a 47-19 lead at the break. A closer second half saw the team build on their lead for the win.
Both sophomores reached doble figures in the game. Carson Boyle led the way with 15 points while A.J. Horton contributed 10 points. Brandon Lanier and Xavier Washington both reached double figures as well with every Cougar scoring in the game. Lanier would finish the game with 11 points while Washington had ten in the contest.
Lanier led the team with seven rebounds with Boyle, Horton, Pharez Nicholas, nd Zechariah Canidate each collecting five boards. Seneca Robinson led the team with five assists while Boyle was next with three. Horton led the team with four steals with Robinson and Jacob Turner each collecting three on the day.
The team will be at home this Wednesday when they take on Pellissippi State in conference play. Game time is set for 7:30pm EST.
