COUGARS FALL TO LEAGUE LEADERS WALTERS AND COLUMBIA
The men's basketball team had a tough week as they were scheduled to meet league leaders Walters State and Columbia State in games for the week. They traveled to Morristown on Wednesday and struggled offensively in a 94-62 loss to Walters. they were home on Saturday for their matchup against Columbia State; they fought hard in a 67-50 loss. The losses put their record at 8-11 overall and 4-9 in conference play.
In their matchup against Walters, they were down only six at halftime, but saw their opponents outscore them 52-26 in the second half due to careless turnovers.
Kedrick Franklin came off the bench to lead the squad with 11 points. Xavier Washington was the only other Cougar in double figures with ten points. A.J. Horton finished with eight points on the evening.
Franklin would lead the team in rebounds with eight while Brandon Lanier finished the game with five boards. Seneca Robinson led the team with three steals while Washington and Zechariah Canidate each finished with two steals.
In the Columbia matchup, the Chargers would build anwd eight point lead by halftime, and cruise in the second half to pick up the wiN.
Franklin was the only team member in double figures with ten points. Robinson and Pharez Nicholas each contributed seven points in the game.
Canidate led the team with eight rebounds while four others each had four boards in the game. Robinson had eight assists in the contests, and shared team high in steals with Jacob turner; each having two in the game.
