HORTON'S THREE KEYS WIN OVER PELLISSIPPI
A.J. Horton dropped a three-pointer with 2.5 seconds to play to lead the Cougars to a 75-72 win over Pellissippi State. With the win, the Cougars see their overall record rise to 6-9 with a 3-7 conference record.
The Cougars led by 10, 38-28, at the half, but the {anthers came back late to tie the game at 72 with 30 seconds to play. Seneca Robinson found Horton in the corner where he connected on the game winner.
Xavier Washington led the team with 19 points as he connected on 6 of 10 shots from the field. Horton and Brandon Lanier followed in double digits with 16 points each. Zechariah Canidate almost reached double digits with nine points.
Lanier recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds. Canidate finshed with six boards while Washington collected five in the contest.
Robinson came off the bench and led the squad with nine assists while collecting two steals to match Lanier and Jacob Turner.to lead the team. Lanier had two blocks in the game.
The Cougars will play a home gme versus Bevill State this Saturday following the women's game. Game time is set for 4pm EST.
