MEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS ROAD GAME AGAINST SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE
The men's basketball team traveled to Memphis on Saturday for a conference game against Southwest Tennessee. They found themselves on the wrong en of a 79-69 final. The loss drops their overall record to 5-9 with a 2-7 conference record.
In what was an evenly matched contest, the hosts outscored the Cougars by five points in each half for the win. The squad connected on only 38.9% of their shots in the game which included 26.1% from three-point range.
Brandon Lanier connected on 8 of 11 shots from the field and finished with 19 points. Xavier Washington returned to the lineup and contributed 17 points. A.J. Horton finished with nine points in the contest.
Lanier made it a double-double as he led the team with 14 rebounds. Zechariah Canidate followed with eight and Jacob Turner had six boards in the game.
Canidate and Seneca Robinson both finished with five assists, and Lanier led the team with three steals and three blocks. Kedrick Franklin had two blocks on the afternoon.
The team will travel this Wednesday, January 14, for a road conference matchp with Pellissippi State in Knoxville. Game time is set for 7:30pm EST.
