COUGARS HOLD ON FOR WIN OVER VOL STATE, 63-62
The men's basketball team hit the road Saturday for an important conference road game against Vol State. Trailing by six at the half, the Cougars outscored the Pioneers 39-32 in the second half for a 63-62 win.
Ryan Neal and Xavier Washington were the only Cougars to reach double figures. Neal would finish the game with 12 points while Washington dropped in ten in the win. A.J. Horton was nex with eight points.
Kedrick Franklin came off to the bench to lead the team with seven rebounds to go with seven points. Brandon Lanier, Egypt Daniel, Horton, and Neal each had four boards in the contest.
Horton and Neal each had three assists. Jacob Turner was credited with a team high three steals while Franklin led with three blocks.
With the win, the Cougars wrap up conference play before the holiday break with two non conference road games scheduled. they travel to Griffin (GA) on Wednesday to face Southern Crescent and then to Alabama to take on Bevill State on Monday, December 15.
This puts the Cleveland record at 3-6 overall and 2-5 in TCCAA play.
