Cougar Golf Set to Compete for a National Championship
Cleveland State is one of 22 teams qualified to compete for a 2023 National Championship at the Swann Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana, May 23-26, 2023. Joining the field with the Cougars in the Division II competition are two other Tennessee Community College Athletic Association colleges; Roane State and Walters State.
Earing the opportunity to play at the National Tournament by finishing in the top three at the Southeast District Championship, Cleveland State used a team of Dalton Sutton, Cain Stover, Nic Ravnborg, Owen Krueger and Reese McFatter who combined shot a team total of 874.
Competing for the second year in a row Cougar Golf finished 15th in the 2022 National Tournament as Cleveland State coached by Brooks Thomas looks to climb to the top of the leader board at the 2023 Nationals. The Cougars had an outstanding 2023 spring season finishing second, third twice, fifth and 12th in a five tournament entry.
The 2022-2023 Cougar Golf roster includes sophomores Dalton Sutton, Cain Stover, Nic Ravnborg, Jarrett Glass and Bryce Barber along with freshmen Krueger and Reese McFatter.
Golf course par at Swann Lake Resort is 72 as play first began in 1969. Golf Advisor handed out a golf course accolade of #5 ranking in the state of Indiana in 2021. There are over 530 golf courses in the state.
