COUGAR VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS CHATT STATE ON THE ROAD, 3-1
Cougar volleyball went on the road Tuesday night to face the Tigers of Chattanooga State. The Cougars swept the season series by defeating them 3-1 to improve their conference record to 7-0.
The team found themselves dow in the first set, but came back late to win 26-24. they would drop the second set 25-15, but come back to win the thrid set 25-20. Once again they trailed late in the fourth set, but a run of five servicce points by Piper Bowers put them on the brink of the match victory. Chattanooga would get the wscore to 24-23 before the Cougars put it away with a solid play at the net.
Zowee Dillard led the way with 15 kills while also collecting 14 digs. Elanee Cotter was next with 13 kills to go with six digs. Kennedy Caudill had five kills, Caroline church with four, and Reagan Frakes & Bowers with three. Boers led the way with 19 assists while Brooklyn Mathis had 14.
Bowers and Church each had three service aces while Dillard finished with two on the night. Isabella Messer had 19 digs to lead the team while Bowers was right behind with 18 in the match. Brooklyn Mathis finished with nine and Megan Crocker had eight for the contest. Church had a total of four blocks in the match while Frakes finished with three.
Up next for the team is a two day road trip to west Tennessee. They will face Dyersburg State Friday at 6pm EST, nd then Jackson State on Saturday with a start time of 3pm EST.
