COUGAR VOLLEYBALL STAYS UNBEATEN; DEFEATS CHATT STATE IN CONFERENCE OPENER
Cleveland State volleyball stayed undefeated as they defeated Chattanooga State in both team's conference opener. The final score was a 3-0 sweep with scores of 25-15, 25-18, & 25-21.
The win brings the teqm's overall record to 6-0 and an important 1-0 in conference play.
The first two sets started back and forth between the two squads. Cleveland would build a lead midway both through both sets where they would go on to win them. Chattanooga took the lead early in the third set before the Cougars would go ahead at 17-16. With the score 22-21, Cleveland would run off three straight points for the win. The match point came as Megn Crocker came up with an ace from serve.
For the math, Aaliyah Rodgers led with 13 kills on 17 attacks. Saylor Clark would be next with eight and Kennedy Caudill finished with seven. Caroline Church, Piper Bowers, and Zowee Dillard each had five in the contest as the team was good on 43 of their 98 attacks for a .337 kill percentage.
Bowers led the team with 35 assists and 12 digs in the game while Rodgers had six service aces. Isabella Messer also had 12 digs in the match and Clark finished with eight.
The Cougars are off for a week. They will hit the road next Tuesday where they will travelto Roane State for another important conference matchup.
