COUGAR VOLLEYBALL EARNS HARD FOUGHT WIN OVER NW SHOALS
Cougar volleyball found their way back into the win column after suffering their first loss of the season. The were able to fight off Northwest Shoals (AL) in a highly competitive contest on Saturdaay afternoon, 3-2.
The Cougars would win sets two and three after dropping the first set of the match. Shoals would force a fifth set which Cleveland won 15-8 for the win. The set scores for the match were 21-25, 25-14, 25-9, 20-25, and 15-8. The cougars see their verall record rise to 13-1 on the season.
Aaliyah Rodgers was again the lead attack player with 22 kills on 33 attacks (.636). She also had six assists, 11 dig, and three total blocks. Zowee Dillard was next with 11 kills and one service ace. Kennedy Caudill had nine kills with four total blocks, and Caroline Church had eight kills and one blovk. Piper Bowers had 27 assists, two service aces, and 15 digs in the contest.
Iabella Messer had 11 digs, 11 digs, and a service ace in the win. Kenley Jones, Megan Crocker, and Dillard each had a service ace.
The squad jumps back into conference action on Tuesday night as they travel to Chattanooga State for a matchup of the top two teams in conference standings.
