SUGGS EARNS SECOND TCCAA PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONOR AFTER DOMINANT GAME THREE PERFORMANCE
CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Cleveland State Community College sophomore Braden Suggs has been named the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Pitcher of the Week following a dominant performance last weekend against Chattanooga State, marking his second time earning the award this season.
Suggs delivered one of his most complete outings of the year in Saturday's decisive Game Three, leading the Cougars to an 8–1 victory at Tiger Field and securing the series win over a conference rival.
The right-hander was in full command from the opening pitch, working seven strong innings while allowing just two hits and one earned run. Suggs scattered two walks, struck out six, and consistently induced weak contact, recording 11 groundouts on his way to improving his season record to 6–0.
Chattanooga State managed its lone run in the bottom of the first inning, but Suggs quickly settled in and retired 15 of the final 18 batters he faced, keeping the Tiger offense off balance with a crisp mix of fastballs and breaking pitches. He faced 25 total batters and threw 90 pitches, showcasing both efficiency and endurance in a high-leverage conference matchup.
Suggs' performance set the tone early and allowed the Cougar offense to build separation as the game progressed. Cleveland State scored in five different innings and held Chattanooga State to just three hits for the game, underscoring the pitching staff's dominance. JC Armour closed out the final two innings in relief, preserving the victory.
The win was pivotal for Cleveland State, as it clinched the series on the road and further strengthened the Cougars' position in the TCCAA standings. Suggs' ability to rise to the moment in a winner-take-all scenario exemplified why he has become a cornerstone of the Cougar rotation.
With this latest honor, Suggs now becomes a two-time TCCAA Pitcher of the Week recipient in 2026, solidifying himself as one of the league's most dependable arms. As the Cougars continue their conference push, his consistency and leadership on the mound will remain a key factor in the team's success.
