COUGARS POWER PAST VINCENNES 15-5
Cleveland State Community College delivered a complete performance Friday afternoon at Cougar Field, defeating Vincennes University 15–5 behind explosive offense and strong pitching. The Cougars used patience at the plate, aggressive base running, and timely power to pull away after a close start and secure the win.
Cleveland State broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning and followed with five more runs in the seventh. The Cougars finished the day with 15 runs on eight hits, drawing 12 walks and stealing nine bases to keep constant pressure on the Vincennes defense.
Sophomore third baseman Kwade Carver led the offensive charge with a standout performance, going 3-for-5 with three home runs and seven RBIs. Carver accounted for nearly half of Cleveland State's runs and energized the Cougars' dugout with each swing. Samuel Formby also homered and drove in two runs, while Nate Severance added two hits and three stolen bases.
On the mound, Max Owens earned the win after working 6.1 innings and striking out nine. Owens battled early before settling in, allowing the offense to build a comfortable lead. Hudson Speares and Torrey Robinson combined to finish the game out of the bullpen.
Defensively, Cleveland State played error-free baseball, helping limit extra opportunities and maintain momentum throughout the contest.
Head Coach Aaron Bryant said, "Once we got momentum, we did a great job of staying disciplined and continuing to apply pressure. Our guys were locked in, played clean baseball, and fed off each other's energy. That's the standard we want to set every day."
With the win, Cleveland State improves to 3–3 on the season and looks to carry the momentum forward as early-season play continues.
