The Lady Cougars ended a short two game losing streak as they were able to outlast the host Lady Generals of Jackson State by a 53-41 final. Cleveland used a strong second quarter to distance themsemselves from their opponents. Outscoring Jackson 19-4 in the seocnd ten minutes increased a one point lead to a 29-13 lead at the intermission. The Lady Generals made several runs in the second half, but the Lady Cougars stayed strong down the stretch for the victory.
Abby Hubert and Ebony Kelley were the only Lady Cougars with double digit scoring. Hubert was top scorer with 21 points to go with five rebounds and three steals. Kelley would fiish with 10 points while pulling down nine rebounds and collecting four steals.
Julia Gaither would score only five points, but matched Kelley with nine rebounds and had six assists to go with five steals & two blocked shots. Keya Jenkins aided in the rebound category with seven boards and had three assists.
