The Cougars fell 11-points short in an 80-69 loss to Walters State, while the Lady Cougars were defeated 89-59 in the conference meeting.
Cleveland State returns to the court on Friday, with a trip to Southwest Tennessee CC.
Tevin Olison and Jordan Olison led Cleveland State with 21 and 20 points respectively, but it wasn't enough to spur their team to a 'W.'
After the first half, the Cougars trailed the Senators by 10 points, 43-33.
Cleveland State was able to nearly match Walters State scoring-wise in the second half, putting up 36 points to their hosts' 37, but could not overcome their first half deficit.
Victor Curry also reached double-digit scoring on Saturday, posting 13 points.
In the Women's game, sluggish offense in the first two quarters left the Lady Cougars with an uphill battle.
Cleveland State was outshot 20-11 in the first quarter and 23-11 in the second quarter, leaving them trailing Walters State 43-22 at halftime.
The Lady Cougars ramped up their offensive efforts in the second half, but were not able to slow down their hosts.
In the third quarter Cleveland State was outshot 26-17, with both teams scoring another 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Catherine Davis and Abby Hubert led the Lady Cougars in scoring with 21 and 14 points apiece.
Walters State outrebounded Cleveland State 45-25 in the game.
