Bio
Nolan McDaniel brings a unique combination of competitive volleyball excellence and educational leadership to the Cleveland State Community College volleyball program. As CEO and Founder of ChattAcademy Community School, a bilingual charter school, McDaniel understands the importance of developing student-athletes both on and off the court.
McDaniel's volleyball credentials are impressive, highlighted by his achievements as a University of Tennessee Men's Club Volleyball National Champion. His decorated collegiate career includes two national championship appearances and recognition as a two-time first team All-American setter at the national tournament level. This elite competitive experience was complemented by his role as a practice player for the University of Tennessee women's volleyball program, where he gained valuable insight into high-level training and game preparation.
With extensive coaching experience spanning club, high school, and middle school levels, McDaniel has developed athletes across all stages of their volleyball journey. His technical expertise lies in setting, where his championship-level experience translates into sophisticated offensive instruction and player development.
What sets McDaniel apart is his "whole athlete" coaching philosophy, rooted in his extensive background in education. He understands that successful athletes require more than technical skills—they need academic support, character development, and life skills that extend far beyond the volleyball court. This comprehensive approach ensures that student-athletes not only excel in competition but also succeed in their academic pursuits and personal growth.
McDaniel's dual expertise in competitive athletics and educational administration makes him an invaluable asset to the Cleveland State volleyball program, where he is committed to developing champions in every aspect of life.
