It was a tough opening to 2020 for Men's Basketball on Saturday evening, as they fell 81-65 to Gadsden State, who came into the game with an 11-3 record.
The play of Demonte Person was a bright spot of the Cougars in the contest. Person scored a game high 23 points paired with a team-high three assists, a rebound, and a steal while also making 10 of 12 free throws.
Jaquez Hicks also posted his fifth double-double in the last seven games, scoring 10 points, grabbing a game-high 10 boards, and posting a pair of assists and blocks to provide a boost off of the bench.
The Cougars, who are now 5-8 this year, will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel north to Tullahoma, Tenn. to face Motlow State in what will be their first conference matchup of 2020. Tip-off is set for 8:30 ET.
